Meet Rao V. Sunkavally, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Rao Sunkavally completed his urology residency at Albert Einstein University Hospital in New York and completed specialized training in Urologic Cancer at Montefiore Hospital, affiliated with the internationally renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute.
Dr. Sunkavally has extensive experience in laparoscopic nephrectomy, robotic renal reconstructive surgery, robotic prostatectomy, cryo-ablation of the prostate and laser prostatectomy.
He started his renal and prostate robotic surgery in 2002. Dr. Sunkavally has performed well over 200 nerve-sparing radical prostatectomies. He has performed many cryoablations of the prostate and has worked to educate many urologists as a proctor in the field of cryosurgery. Dr. Sunkavally is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of many medical societies including the American Urological Association, California Medical Association, and the Alameda Contra Costa Medical Association.

Dr. Rao Sunkavally has maintained his urology practice in the Bay Area since 1983. He lives with his family in Pleasanton, California
